EXPERIENCED NURSES ONLY!!!

General Pediatric and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology – C5-3

C5-3 is one of the most recently renovated units at MedStar Georgetown. All the rooms are private rooms which have been constructed to provide a more comfortable environment for our patients and their families, which include sleeper sofas and refrigerators. This 13 bed unit is divided into a 7 bed General Pediatric and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology unit as well as a 6 bed Epilepsy Monitoring unit for both adult and pediatric patients. Cross-training is provided between both departments during orientation, since patient assignments often include a combination of C5-3 and EMU patients. Clinical Nurses on C5-3 provide expert care for both our general pediatric patients and our pediatric oncology patients as well as for our patients who are there to either rule out epilepsy or determine more advanced treatments for their epilepsy. Nurses on C53 have outstanding educational and professional development opportunities including the opportunity to get trained and certified in chemotherapy administration.
