Nurse Navigator

Radiation Therapy

Regular Full-Time




GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  Responsible for the coordination of patient care across the continuum of Radiation oncologic care for all patients.  Educates/provides information, supports patients, and facilitates treatment plans.  Functions as a patient advocate, guides patients and families throughout cancer care and survivorship experience.  These functions are performed in accordance all applicable laws and regulations and Georgetown University Hospital's philosophy, policies, procedures and standards.


EDUCATION AND OR TRAINING REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in nursing required.   Master's of Science in Nursing preferred.


LICENSURE AND OR CERTIFICATION: Licensure as a RN in the District of Columbia. Oncology nurse certification preferred


EXPERIENCE: 4-5 years of clinical nursing experience in oncology required.  Experience with surgical oncology, inpatient/outpatient/community oncology services preferred.  Must have clinical maturity and experience, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of health care providers.

Effective oral and written communication skills required.


SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: Position requires a high level of advocacy and problem-solving ability.  Ability to multitask and organize advocacy and support for a large and varied group of cancer patients and their families.  Knowledge of community resources helpful.
